  • Re: Storing or Recording Live TV to WHS

Follow-up I have since done a complete reinstall of Vista x64 ultimate and MCE functioned perfectly... UNTIL, I went into recorder locations.  MCE hung for a while, then showed the storage location on 'C' - which was not editable, and since then has shown the exact same symptoms as my post above. I'm just hoping someone will notice this ...

Jacks5000:I have tried your program, but I still got to untick permission every time I reboot my WHS . .Have you left something out of the batch file I've noticed this behavior as well, but it seemed to happen inconsistently. I noticed that while the share permissions were correct, the files in the share still had the original permissions set by ...

  • Re: Error syncing recorded TV from VMC to Zune2

Hey cw-kid, the chances are its the audio as Ian said, however FIRST you should see if Virgin are setting the copy protection bit on that specific channel, this is a per channel setting and is not the same copy protection as OCUR content as you may hear about from the US. It is possible they are using it in the UK which restricts playback of these ...

  • Re: Question on Webguide Mobile

It could be, but its more likely a firewall or router issue. Take a look here and see if this is your issue:  http://www.asciiexpress.com/wiki/router_config.ashx I'm pretty sure your smart phone should work on, I'll get you a definate answer if you find it isn't your firewall/router config.

  • WHS Backup does not work for dvr-ms files

Just thought I'd let people know that the backup in Windows Home Server does not work for dvr-ms (recorded TV) files. I have confirmed this from several sources including the MS WHS forums. It seems the WHS developers thought that backing up these files would require too much space. This is bizzare given that OneCare backup gives you an explicit ...

  • Re: Storing or Recording Live TV to WHS

Hello,I've got an interesting issue going on with my setup. I followed all of your steps and right off the bat everything worked perfect. I then had to restart my WHS so I made sure the bat file was in place and restarted the system. I then checked the sharing and security permissions and they were in fact updated to the correct settings as set ...

  • Re: Storing or Recording Live TV to WHS

I'm having trouble getting this working too.  Very simple seteup: MCE2005 machine, and trying to record live TV to an RC1 WHS, and then watch it back.  I followed the guide once and seemed to get it working, and also put the batch file in, but following a restart of the WHS and MCE, it doesn't seem to work any more.  MCE reverted ...

  • Share Recorded TV with other Media Centers

See Mike's Digital Home blog on how to Share Recorded TV with other Media Center PC's. Its a great post I see a lot of questions in the Media Center newsgroups and forums asking how to access recorded TV from another Media Center in the house.  This is fairly easy to accomplish.  In this entry I'll walk you through it in Vista; XP is ...
